Stratos can read the flight plan you made in SimBrief. Add your SimBrief username once, and every flight you track shows your planned route, waypoints and top of climb and descent on the map. Without it, tracking works exactly the same; the map just draws a great-circle line between the airports.

Add your SimBrief username

  1. Open Settings → General.
  2. Under Units and data, type your username into SimBrief username.
It saves as you type. Use the username you sign in to SimBrief with.

How Stratos picks your plan

When a flight starts, Stratos fetches your latest SimBrief flight plan (OFP) and uses it only if its departure and arrival airports match the flight you’re tracking. So plan the flight in SimBrief before you start tracking, and make sure your latest OFP is for this flight.

The SB badge

While you’re tracking, an SB badge sits in the header next to the route. It only appears once you’ve added a SimBrief username.

Reload your plan

Re-planned in SimBrief after starting the flight? Click the SB badge to fetch your plan again. Stratos tells you what happened:
  • SimBrief plan refreshed: the new plan replaces the old one everywhere it’s used.
  • No newer SimBrief plan for YSSY-YMML, keeping the one already loaded: your latest OFP isn’t for this route (or SimBrief couldn’t be reached), so the loaded plan stays.
  • No SimBrief plan found for YSSY-YMML. Check your latest OFP is for this flight: your latest OFP is for different airports. Fix it in SimBrief and click the badge again.
(Your own departure and arrival appear in place of YSSY-YMML.)

What Stratos uses it for

  • The route on the map. Your planned route replaces the great-circle line. The part you’ve flown turns solid green and what’s left stays dashed grey. Each waypoint is a dot you can hover over for its name, position and the distance behind and to go.
  • Top of climb and top of descent. SimBrief’s TOC and TOD points show as green dots on the route. Hover over one to see Top of Climb or Top of Descent and its flight level.
  • Next waypoint. The flight log’s summary row shows the next fix (Next WPT) and how far away it is.
  • Your landing report. The Landing Analyser reads your planned approach speed (Vref), planned landing fuel and runway from the plan, for the approach and fuel parts of your landing score.
  • The Stratos mobile app. The map on your phone shows the same route.
The Pause TOD switch in the header works with or without SimBrief: it estimates top of descent from your cruise altitude, or uses a distance you set. See Pause at TOD.

Your booking’s aircraft

Some airlines set a booking’s aircraft from your SimBrief plan. When that happens, the booking shows Set by your SimBrief flight plan. Re-plan in SimBrief to fly a different aircraft. To change aircraft, make a new plan in SimBrief with the aircraft you want, then press Refresh on the bookings list.
