# Plugins

> Browse and install plugins, change their settings, reorder the sidebar, and what to do when a plugin won't load.

Plugins add pages and features to Stratos. Your airline chooses some for you (flight tracking, the Landing Analyser, the Dashboard and so on), and you can add your own from the plugin catalogue. Each plugin gets an icon in the sidebar, and its settings live in **Settings → Plugins**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **At a glance**
>
> * Open the catalogue with **Plugins** in the sidebar. Install, update or uninstall from there.
> * Plugins your airline added say **Required by VA** and can only be removed by your airline.
> * Change a plugin's settings in **Settings → Plugins**, under **Your settings**.
> * Drag the icons in the sidebar to put them in the order you like.

## Find a plugin

Click **Plugins** in the sidebar to open the catalogue.

* **Featured** plugins sit at the top.
* Type in **Search plugins…** to search names and descriptions.
* Turn on **Official only** to see only Skyvex Software's own plugins.

Each plugin shows its icon, name, description, version and number of installs. A tick after the name tells you who made it:

* **Gold tick**: an official plugin, made and maintained by Skyvex Software.
* **Blue tick**: a verified developer.

Hover over the tick to see which it is. A plugin with no tick comes from a developer who isn't verified yet.

If the catalogue is empty, it says **User plugins are coming soon**.

## Install a plugin

1. Click **Install** on the plugin.
2. Check the version and click **Install** in **Install** *name*?.

The plugin is installed on this computer and saved to your account, and its icon appears in the sidebar. You'll see a message when it's done.

## Update a plugin

When a newer version is out, the plugin's card shows an **Update** badge. Click **Update**, check the versions, then click **Update** again to confirm. The new version is switched on without a restart.

You can also update from **Settings → Plugins**: a download arrow marks each plugin with an update, **Update all** updates every one, and a plugin's own page has an **Update** button. A plugin updated there may say **Restart to activate**; it switches over the next time Stratos starts.

Plugins, including the ones you installed, update on their own; **Update** just does it straight away.

## Uninstall a plugin

1. In the catalogue, hover over **Installed** on the plugin's card. It changes to **Uninstall**. Click it.
2. Click **Uninstall** in **Uninstall** *name*?.

The plugin is removed from this computer and from your account. You can install it again from the catalogue any time.

You can also uninstall from the plugin's page in **Settings → Plugins**: click the bin icon, then **Confirm**.

Plugins your airline added show **Required by VA** in the catalogue and have no uninstall button. Only your airline can remove them.

## Change a plugin's settings

1. Open **Settings → Plugins** (or click the gear icon, then **Plugins**).
2. Pick the plugin from the list on the left.
3. Change what you need under **Your settings**. Changes save straight away.

**Your settings** only shows what you're allowed to change. Your airline sets the rest in Console, and those settings never show in Stratos. For example, in Flight Tracking you can turn on **Auto-Start Tracking** and **Auto-Submit Flight**, but whether you can cancel bookings, change aircraft or use **Start Anyway** is up to your airline.

When a plugin has nothing for you to set, it says **Nothing to set for** *name*, and adds **Your airline manages it.** for an airline plugin.

The list on the left marks each plugin **Airline** (added by your airline) or **You** (installed by you). A plugin's page also shows its version, who added it, and under **Details** its **Plugin ID**, **Author**, **Homepage** and, when your airline needs it, **Required by**.

## Reorder the sidebar

Drag a plugin's icon up or down the sidebar and drop it where you want it. The order is saved for each airline you fly for.

With the keyboard: move to the icon with Tab, press Space to pick it up, use the arrow keys to move it, then press Space or Enter to drop it (Escape cancels).

The first time you sign in, the icons follow the order your airline set.

## When a plugin won't load

If a plugin can't start, its page says **Failed to Load Plugin** (or **Plugin Error** if it stopped while showing), with the reason. In **Settings → Plugins** it has a warning sign and the same reason on its page.

1. Click **Retry**.
2. Check for an update: open **Settings → Plugins** and look for **Update**, or check **About and updates**.
3. Restart Stratos.
4. Still broken? Click **Get help** (for Skyvex Software's plugins) or **Contact the developer** (for anyone else's) on the plugin's page in **Settings → Plugins**, or on its card in the catalogue. The plugin's log goes with your message. See [Getting help](/stratos/getting-help.md).

If it says *name* **needs a newer Stratos**, the plugin was built for a newer version of Stratos than yours. Update Stratos from **Settings → About and updates** and it loads.

One plugin failing doesn't stop the others loading.
