# Private plugins

> A private plugin reaches only the airlines you choose, your own and any you share it with by invite code. Its versions are reviewed like a public plugin's, and only those airlines see it in Browse plugins.

## Public or private

Every plugin in the Developer centre is either **Public** or **Private**. You choose when you create it, and you can change it later on the plugin's **Distribution** tab.

| | Public | Private |
| - | - | - |
| Who can use it | Any airline from Browse plugins (or any pilot, for a pilot plugin) | Only airlines you choose: every airline you own, plus any you share it with (a pilot plugin: only pilots at airlines you own) |
| Review | Every version is reviewed by Skyvex Software | The same: every version is reviewed by Skyvex Software |
| Listing screenshots | At least 3 light and dark pairs on the listing before a version can be submitted for review | The same: at least 3 light and dark pairs |
| Shown in Browse plugins | Yes | Only to the airlines that can use it |

A private plugin is the right choice for something only your airline (or a few partner airlines) needs: a tool that talks to your own crew system, a house dashboard, a rule set you don't want to share with everyone.

<Note>
Private plugins go through the same review as public ones, against the [Plugin Guidelines](https://skyvexsoftware.com/legal/plugin-guidelines). We use automated and AI-assisted checks and systems to help keep review times down. See [Plugin review](/guide/plugin-review). The [Plugin Terms](https://skyvexsoftware.com/legal/plugin-terms) apply as well.

## Sharing with other airlines

Every airline you own has your private plugin, including ones you create later. To let another airline use it, share it with them:

1. Ask the airline's owner for their 6-character invite code. It's on their airline's **General** settings.
2. Open your plugin's **Airlines** tab in the Developer centre and enter the code under **Share with another airline**.
3. The airline appears in the list. Its owner can now add your plugin from **Browse plugins**, and their pilots get it the same way your pilots do.

To stop sharing, remove the airline from the list. They can no longer add it, and if they already have it their pilots lose it the next time Stratos checks for plugins. You can share it again at any time.

Only you can share your plugin. Your plugin's page never shows the airlines' invite codes.

## How many you can have

How many private plugins you can keep depends on your plan. See the [pricing page](https://skyvexsoftware.com/pricing) for each plan's limit, and [Plans and billing](/guide/plans-and-billing).

When you're at your limit, the Private option on **Create plugin** and on the **Distribution** tab is locked and says why. Public plugins never count towards it, and sharing a private plugin with more airlines doesn't either.

## Making a plugin public later

Change it on the plugin's **Distribution** tab. Any airline can add it from then on. The next version is reviewed by a person before it goes out, even if earlier versions were released without waiting in the queue. Its [listing screenshots](/sdk/screenshots) are needed just as they were while it was private.

## Making a public plugin private

Also on the **Distribution** tab. From then on only your airlines and the ones you share it with can use it. Any other airline using it loses it unless you share it with them, and the dialog warns you before you confirm.
